After writing a monthly column for Fortune magazine since 1998, venture capitalist Bill Gurley gave up the gig a few years back. He then started a blog that goes by the same name as his column, Above the Crowd.

Judging by the frequency of his posts, his time at Fortune seems to have gotten to him. They are irregular. But, when the Benchmark Capital general partner writes, he does so vehemently, as his first post of 2006 shows. Gurley contends the Sarbanes-Oxley law passed in 2003 will "lead to the demise of the U.S. markets." Joshua Jaffe
