Design software maker Autodesk Inc. [ADSK] is buying MoldFlow Corp. [MFLO], another design software maker that helps predict the way plastic components will behave during manufacturing, for $297 million. Autodesk will pay $22 per share for MoldFlow, which it will acquire through a cash tender offer. The price is a modest premium over MoldFlow's closing stock price Thursday of $19.61.

Earlier this year, Autodesk bought Kynogon SA, a privately held South African maker of artificial intelligence software. -- Andrea Orr
