Not so fast, paidContent.org. A post on the site yesterday claiming that blog advertising network Federated Media was being shopped was refuted by company founder, chairman, and CEO (also founder chairman and CEO of The Industry Standard and co-founding editor of Wired magazine) John Battelle and one of the company's investors. Battelle told one of his old subordinates, Barron's Eric Savitz, that the company is not for sale, though like any smart businessman he left things open by acknowledging that every startup has its price. PaidContent actually updated its post after getting an e-mail from J.P. Morgan Partners' Chris Albinson denying that he was pursuing a sale of the company his firm invested in in 2006. -- David Shabelman
