novell.jpgIt's a drop in the bucket relative to what some companies have invested there, but Novell Inc.'s [NOVL] announced plans to invest $100 million in India proves the region continues to offer promising benefits to Western companies aiming to make their operations more efficient and expand overseas.

Data center software maker Novell did not elaborate on its investment plans, other than to say that the $100 million would be spent over the next three years and would include spending on an engineering facility in Bangalore, its largest outside of the U.S.

Other U.S. tech companies including Cisco Systems Inc. [CSCO] have moved much more aggressively in India; in 2005 Cisco committed some $1.1 billion for India, including $100 million in Indian venture investments, including Nimbus Communications Ltd. - Andrea Orr
