The press will certainly have plenty of color to draw on if startup du jour Tumblr, which recently raised some seed money, ever makes it big. Take Jakob Lodwick, founder of video-sharing site Vimeo Inc., who chose Tumblr as his first angel investment and whose "tumblelog" is titled Obeastiality with the motto, "Fuck You."Then there's Tumblr's history, which has a "found" quality typical of many Web 2.0 startups. The company is based on software from development firm Davidville Inc., which created a program that allows folks to post any type of digital file and short-form post to a single location, dubbed a tumblelog.
Going further back, Tumblr's roots lie in a site created in March 2005 called Anarchaia. That was developed by Ruby on Rails programmer Christian Neukirchen, who writes in one of his original tumblelog posts about how David Winer's scripting.com format inspired him. In July 2005, a few Ruby on Rails guys created the pro.jection.ist site and called it a tumblelog to build on the Anarchaia format.
In March of this year, Davidville launched Tumblr, which allows anyone, even nonprogrammers, to create tumblelogs. Over the summer the guys spearheading the Tumblr effort caught the eye of Fred Wilson at Union Square Ventures, and now the company is $750,000 richer.
Incidentally, Davidville's Senduit program looks pretty useful. It's a way to upload and share large files with people the user selects. For those few remaining souls unwilling to place their entire lives online, it's a practical way of sharing specific files with a select few. - Stacey Higginbotham

From: Stacey Higginbotham,
I can't wait to see what you end up with if you change it.
And thanks for the clarification.

From: Victor Vicario,
Just by reading the comment form this Jakob Lodwick, you can tell the guy is definitively an asshole. I also could not wait until he changes his motto. Maybe he goes with something like "I'm in top of the world!".

To clarify, my site is called Obeastiality. The *motto* is "Fuck you."
I might change it soon (unrelated to the Tumblr deal).
