Lawyer ratings web site Avvo doesn't seem too concerned about the lawsuit it was slapped with only days after launch. Backed by Benchmark Capital and Ignition Partners, Avvo drew the ire of lawyers that don't think they're being rated fairly by the service.

Speaking at last week's iMeme conference, Avvo director Rich Barton's views on the subject were captured by The San Jose Mercury News:

Barton suggested a lawsuit might be good for business by generating free publicity. That was the case for Avvo, the attorney-rating service in which Barton, a partner at Benchmark Capital, is an investor. "On Day 5 we got sued," Barton said. But, he added, "getting sued was, cavalierly, part of the playbook."
