If you've ever doubted the logic of Microsoft acquiring Facebook, the social networking company's co-founder inadvertently spelled out one way Facebook could be integrated into the software giant.
Speaking at the AlwaysOn Stanford Summit's social networking panel, Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz responded to a question about other social networks when he mentioned Microsoft Exchange. He said, "I would identify Exchange as a social network. It just doesn’t have a strong sense of identity. It allows sharing documents, setting up meetings... Those are things that you would see in any other social network."
Interesting. Unfortunately, Dan'l Lewin, head of M&A at Microsoft, wasn't queried earlier in the day about how important the software giant considers it to be to own a leading social network. Instead discussion on the technology acquirer panel remained general and unexciting.
