Aside from ramping up its investment pace, First Round Capital is ramping up its manpower. The early-stage venture capital firm has opened up a new office in San Francisco and has hired Rob Hayes as a general partner on the West Coast. Hayes previously was an investor at Omidyar Network.

It's even money that whenever a Web 2.0 startup with a prayer announces a seed or first round of funding, First Round Capital is involved. So, it comes as no surprise that the firm decided to expand its presence in the place where it does so many of its deals.
