The latest development from Fortune's Brainstorm conference in Aspen is that venture capitalists are investing in China, India and wireless applications rather than trying to fund a company that competes with Google or eBay. Seems to make sense considering that Google and eBay were founded eight and ten years ago and that venture capitalists are supposed to invest in future, rather than past, trends.
Mayfield's Kevin Fong said he's excited about an online mobile betting tool in China and a wireless advertising startup in the US, during a panel devoted to venture capital at the conference. Greylock's Aneel Bhusri is looking to India's consumer market for investment returns while Global Catalyst's Kamran Elahian said the wireless semiconductor market is ripe for growth.
I'm sure Google and eBay are sharing a sigh of relief over this one.
