Already busy doing its share to boost cleantech investment to record levels this year, Good Energies is adding an additional managing director to source energy and environmental technology deals.

The new hire is John Breckenridge of CCMP Capital Advisors,
formerly known as J.P. Morgan Partners, where he served as operating
partner and managing director in both Tokyo and New York. Breckenridge comes to Good Energies after seven years at the firm, where he worked on deals in renewable energy, traditional energy, industrial service, manufacturing and chemicals sectors.

Good Energies CEO Richard Kauffman says Breckenridge comes to the firm with expertise in global markets, and Breckenridge worked closely with CCMP companies on strategy for going into China and other Asian
countries. Before joining Morgan, Breckenridge was chief operating officer of Japanese power supply equipment maker Densei Lambda KK and was an executive with British industrial and energy automation technology maker Invensys plc.

Good Energies' investment strategy has included active involvement in Asian markets, with the firm recently raising its stake in Chinese photovoltaic cell vendor Solarfun Power Holdings Co. Ltd. to 35%. The firm first bought in last year with a 6.3% stake and initiated the larger investment by cashing out some founders' equity. Good Energies also is active in Europe, investing recently in U.K.-based photovoltaic developer SolarCentury Holdings Ltd.
Good Energies is part of Germany's COFRA Holding AG Group, which formed it with a stated goal of driving the transition to a low carbon, clean energy economy globally, including bringing affordable renewable energy to the developing world. - Clifford Carlsen
