Hailed by Khosla Ventures' David Weiden as a "big, cool, exciting idea", Startforce was the most praised startup at web services CEO showcase at the AlwaysOn Stanford Summit this morning. The pre-series A company has developed a web operating system providing a web desktop service for click-and-run web applications. Vesbridge's Rod Randall described Startforce as "hugely disruptive", while VantagePoint Venture Partners' David Carlick described the product as "brilliant."
Enterprise social media startup, Awareness, received the harshest feedback from the venture capital judges. Weiden said Awareness, formerly known as iUpload, will have a very tough time scaling up from $10 million in revenue to $150 million because of the challenges selling to more enterprises at a higher price. Randall warned the company to be wary of competition that can effect its market size and pricing sustainability. The company's series A backers, Greylock Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners, clearly think otherwise.
