With its diversified approach to Europe and the US as well as balancing between IT and life sciences, Partech's careful move into Web 2.0 investments is hardly a surprise. What may be surprising is that the firm has managed to get in on some promising deals in recent months such as game search engine Wazap and slide show widget RockYou.

Partech's Michael Brown explained that one way to gain access to better deals is to help entrepreneurs build their companies even if you're not on their board or they're not currently raising money. Brown spoke with me earlier this month about the RockYou deal. Watch the video below:
