Music entrepreneur Michael Robertson had an earful of advice for YouTube CEO Chad Hurley during a panel discussion this morning at the Always On conference.

While Hurley skirted most of the talked-about issues surrounding the company and spoke instead about people’s “voices now being heard”, Robertson held nothing back.

Here are four of his ideas:

1) Link together similar videos to create channels that are programmed by the users.
2) Add 5-second advertisements into the video clips because banners and sponsorships won’t cover the company’s tremendous bandwidth costs.
3) While legal uncertainty remains, YouTube has no interest in hiring someone to pull all the illicit video material from its sites.
4) Now that it has a lead, the key to YouTube’s continued success against competitors such as Google Video and Revver is to ensure its servers stay up and running.
