Quick Take: This is a geographical arbitrage play. Take a proven concept to a place where for some inexplicable reason no local entrepreneurs have exploited it and watch it grow. That's the idea. And it's a good one. It worked last time around for Internet startups such as Alando and Lastminute.com, it will work this time around as well for online ticket marketplace Viagogo. But, does the startup need $20 million from the get go? With his experience at StubHub, founder Eric Baker must have driven a hard bargain. That's good for him but, the large raise will likely drive Index's eventual returns down.
