During the introductions on the venture capital panel this morning at Fortune magazine's iMeme conference, moderator Adam Lashinsky asked Fred Wilson whether his firm's name is Union Square Ventures or Union Square Partners.

Usually panel introductions are painfully boring, but Lashinsky's banal question elicited a revealing response from Wilson. He said his firm, Union Square Ventures, is suing Union Square Partners over the name.

Indeed, USV initiated a trademark infingement lawsuit against private equity firm USP on June 27. It turns out Sequoia Capital isn't the only venture capital firm willing to sue another player in the industry it feels has done them wrong.
