I spoke on CNBC's Power Lunch show today about an article I wrote last week about the tech IPO drought. (I'd post the CNBC video here but I have no idea how to upload an IFO format file to the web. Any ideas?)

While we're never going back to 1999 when just about any technology company could go public, the market for tech IPOs could improve from the dismal August that saw companies such as GoDaddy and Alient Technology withdraw their filings. Two catalysts for improvement could be:

1) A continued Nasdaq rally
2) Successful offerings this week by DivX, CommVault and Riverbed Technology.

I doubt all three can successfully complete IPOs, but if even two of the three can get off into the market, it will be a sign that the final four months of the year could be better then the previous eight for technology companies and their venture capital backers.
