Should I begin with the Montel clip or the leather pants? No, I'll just say this looks like one of the most egotistical and self-serving movies since well, anything Woody Allen's starred in in the past fifteen years. That doesn't mean the trailer (available for viewing below) wasn't entertaining, because it was. I just wonder how it will all go over without Interpol's hit song blaring in the background.
The movie is based on theglobe.com co-founder Stephan Paternot's book, A Very Public Offering, which describes how the company's shares rose 900% in the first day of trading in November 1998 before dropping precipitously soon thereafter.
And surprise; the movie is being produced by Paternot's own production company. I stumbled across an advertisment for the trailer while browsing LinkedIn and just couldn't resist.
According to the production company's web site, there is no director or screenwriter for the movie, but that doesn't stop them from slapping together clips from every media outlet that featured Paternot from 1998 to 2000. And there were a lot of them. This evokes many questions from me, the most important one being: Did someone from Interpol agree to participate in this?
